The exciting young Kazakh pianist, Dina Duisen, made her orchestral debut aged 13, before studying in Texas and in London. Last year she recorded a whole album of Mazurkas by a host of composers and showcases contrasting examples here by Chopin and Saint-Saëns. These are bookended by Beethoven’s set of powerful and melancholy variations and Liszt’s most ingenious Hungarian Rhapsody, a winning mix of keyboard acrobatics and rousing dances.
