Join the world-famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for an evening of orchestral favourites.

The concert begins with the haunting rhapsodic work by Vaughan Williams – his Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis. This is always in Classic FM’s top ten and is a spell-bindingly beautiful work.

Cellist Kian Soltani takes centre stage for a performance of Elgar’s rich and noble masterpiece, his Cello Concerto. Considered to be the last great flowering of Elgar’s genius, the Concerto sweeps with melodic, autumnal beauty and remains one of the greatest examples of English music to date.

With the rich, lush sounds of Romanticism, inspiration for Dvorák’s Symphony No 9, ‘From the New World’, came not only from the Native American and African-American music he heard, but the ‘wide open spaces’ he saw in America.
