  1. Chaconne, from Partita No 2 in D minor, for solo violin BWV 1004 - Johann Sebastian Bach
  2. Sonata for solo violin Sz117 - Bela Bartók

Viviane Hagner takes centre stage to open the Pinchas Zukerman Summer Music Festival, performing two ambitious works for solo violin. Firstly Bach’s Chaconne, which has been dubbed ‘the greatest structure for solo violin that exists’ by violin virtuoso Yehudi Menuhin, alongside Bartók’s Sonata for solo violin, which utilises the full gamut of instrumental techniques in an atmospheric setting.
