Musicke in the Ayre bring their Stuart season at the National Portrait Gallery to a close with this programme of music written for the 17th century English stage. The programme includes songs associated with plays by Shakespeare, Jonson, Fletcher from the earlier part of the century, as well as music by Purcell for the musical dramas that were becoming popular towards the end of the century with texts by Tate, Dryden and Norton. Other composers include Robert Johnson, John Wilson, John Banister, Alfonso Ferrabosco II and Nicholas Lainer.

Admission is free, but early arrival is recommended to secure a seat.
