Some of Schubert's great masterpieces are rarely heard, thanks only to the unusual forces required: often quartets of male or female voices. Tonight, a team of eight outstanding singers, including Raphaela Papadakis, Bethan Langford, Alessandro Fisher and Martin Hässler, join Oxford Lieder’s artistic director, Sholto Kynoch, for an evening of convivial music making that includes many of these works, as well as solo songs, in an informal, salon-style event akin to the gatherings of Schubert and his friends. Song, wine, partsongs and dances draw our Spring Weekend to an uplifting close.

Ticket price includes a glass of wine.

4.45pm - before this concert, Natasha Loges will give a talk on social music-making in Schubert's Vienna, setting the scene for tonight's programme. Click here for details.
