Inspired by National Youth Choirs of Great Britain's 2018 artistic theme of ‘Women in Song’, the National Youth Choir's first concert of 2018 introduces a remarkable range of musicians, from the 20th century's real-life wonder woman Imogen Holst to pre-eminent composers of the present from the UK (Sheena Phillips, Roxanna Panufnik, Thea Musgrave, Imogen Heap), the USA (Libby Larsen) and Jamaica (Eleanor Alberga).

Also featured are the ‘Songs of Farewell’ by Hubert Parry. At once profusely emotional and tightly controlled, these six masterpieces were written a century ago at the close of the composer’s life, and at the conclusion of the Great War.
