The Brighton Singers celebrate the coming of spring with a concert featuring three diverse composers. The choir is accompanied by piano.

The main work in the concert is Mozart's very last Salzburg liturgical work, the Vesperae solennes de confessore (Solemn Vespers) K 339. Written in 1780, the setting is divided into 6 movements. The glorious Laudate Dominum includes a familiar soprano solo where the choir quietly enters at the conclusion of the psalm with the Gloria Patri.

Sir Michael Tippett's masterpiece A Child of our Time was composed between 1939 and 1941. The oratorio includes enigmatic settings of American sprirituals and here the choir performs all five.

The evening ends on a lighter note with songs by George Gershwin in arrangements for the choir.
