The Chapter House Singers perform an evening of music for Easter including the beautiful Ave verum corpus by William Byrd and Gabriel Fauré, Lotti's Cruxifucus and Widor's Tantum ergo.

Woven throughout this programme, Christoff Fourie performs three of J.S.Bach's Suites for cello and then joins soloists Liam Bonthrone and Christopher Dollins in John Joubert’s St Mark Passion. This work was commissioned to celebrate the composer’s 90th birthday and first performed in 2016. In the Scottish premiere conducted by Les Shankland and with organist Joseph Beech, the solo cello weaves its way through the piece, while the organ laments, rumbles or roars, accompanying both the crowd outbursts and the gorgeously arranged hymns that close each of the five movements. A real treat for the passiontide.
