We welcome back the Villiers Quartet, who played at St Peter’s in 2016. For the last three years they have been quartet in residence at the University of Oxford, as well as giving concerts around the UK and internationally, appearing on Radio 3 and on critically-acclaimed CDs.

They continue their exploration of some neglected works by English composers with a quartet by Hubert Parry, who died 100 years ago, alongside two established favourites from masters of string quartet writing. Mendelssohn’s last quartet, written as a reaction to his beloved sister’s early death, and Dvorák’s last quartet, written after his return from America, are both masterpieces of the genre.
