1959 – The year that shaped jazz

Distilling the music and history of London’s world-famous Ronnie Scott’s Club, the quintet comprises world-class musicians led by our returning guest pianist James Pearson. 1959 was the year that jazz lost some of its leading players while others pursued the new directions pioneered by Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dave Brubeck, Ornette Coleman and Duke Ellington – making it arguably the most creative year in jazz history.
