The critically acclaimed Oxfordshire early music trio Musical Banquet will be making an eagerly anticipated first visit to Manor Farm, Ardley, nr. Bicester at 8pm on Saturday 21st July 2018 and performing in the Ardley Parlour Concerts Series. Step back in time 400 years to hear the group serve up a delectable menu of musical delicacies including vocal and instrumental works by Dowland, Campion and Purcell, along with some of their English and European contemporaries, interspersed with colourful period anecdotes.
Manor Farm is situated on the edge of the Cotswolds, just a few minutes from the M40 (J 10), not far from Oxford, and half way between Birmingham and London. Formerly the milking parlour when this was still a working farm, the barn adjacent to the main farmhouse has been converted into a Music Room and the Parlour Concerts offer an exceptional opportunity to see musicians perform at a small and intimate venue in a relaxed and informal setting.
Tonight is an unusual and highly entertaining chance to experience works performed on period instruments combined with countertenor voice, much as the 17th and 18th century audience might have heard them. With plenty of surprises along the way, the concert will be presented in the group's characteristically innovative, energetic and imaginative style and the gourmet ‘menu’ will include some spicy 'musical nibbles' from 17th century Spain, accompanied by baroque guitar, sweet treats from one of England's finest composers, Henry Purcell, and a special tribute to the poet and songwriter Robert Burns. A tempting indulgence for all musical gastronomes!
Please note that places are strictly limited and admission to this concert is by invitation only. Email Manor Farm Music Frivolities to receive your personal RSVP invitation. The admission price includes a complimentary souvenir programme and during the interval refreshments will be available from the bar when there will be an opportunity to meet and talk with the musicians.
Now in its 10th year, Musical Banquet's vibrant and energetic performances have delighted critics and audiences alike:

You remain unique and indefatigable (and very digestible!’)’
Come along and experience for yourself this 'Feast for the Ears'!
