After studying at Chethams School, Charlotte Moseley graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2015, and was awarded a Masters degree with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music in 2017. She has led the CBSO Youth Orchestra, the Manchester Festival Orchestra and the Royal Academy Sinfonia. She leads the Orchestra of St John in Bromsgrove, and is a regular guest leader of the Sinfonia of Birmingham. Concerto performances have included Vivaldi's Four Seasons with the Sinfonia of Birmingham and Orchestra da Camera; Mendelssohn's violin concerto with the Walsall Symphony Orchestra, Sale Chamber Orchestra and Coventry Youth Orchestra; Bruch's violin concerto in G minor with the Telford Orchestra and Eroica Camerata; Elgar's violin concerto with the Halesowen Orchestra; Tchaikovsky's violin concerto with the Westmorland Symphony Orchestra, Redditch Orchestra and Orchestra of St John; as well as Sibelius's violin concerto with the Open University Orchestra and the Orchestra of St John.

The concert will also be the first for our new leader, Cristinel Bacanu. Born in Bucharest, Romania, Cristi has lived in Birmingham for eight years, performing with local orchestras and his ensemble, the Bacanu Quartet, as well as teaching violin.

We also have several new players in other sections, helping the orchestra grow from strength to strength under the leadership of Jon Malaxetxebarria. Born in Guernica, Spain, Jon studied at the RNCM in the UK and Chicago, USA and currently lives in Manchester. He has been Music Director of Solihull Symphony Orchestra since 2013, and is also Music Director of Euskadiko Ikasleen Orkestra, the Basque Youth Orchestra.
