Opera North Christmas Concert

Britten’s Ceremony of Carols brings together the Opera North Youth Chorus and Young Voices. Featuring settings of medieval and 16th century poems, this popular cantata was composed by Britten on a dangerous wartime voyage across the Atlantic, as he returned to England from New York. This December marks the 75th anniversary of its first complete performance, conducted by Britten himself in the Wigmore Hall.

The second half will feature Opera North’s Chorus accompanied by the Orchestra with a miscellany of festive classics, seasonal treats and of course, audience carols!
