  3. Concerto for string orchestra - Grazyna Bacewicz

In today's lunchtime concert, the Trinity Laban String Ensemble combine the familiar and unfamiliar. Errollyn Wallen's Photography was inspired not by individual photographic images, it is more like viewing a collection of pictures. Click here to hear the first movement (which will feature in today's performance), accompanied by a specially commissioned video by Trapeze Films to celebrate the launch of the CD of this work. Grazyna Bacewicz's Concerto for String Orchestra was awarded the Polish State Award in 1950 and is regarded as the 'magnum opus' of one of the first female Polish composers to achieve international recognition. The concert will also feature Elgar's Serenade for Strings, which has been one of the best-loved works in the repertoire since its composition in 1892.

Free concert (retiring collection).
