Famous people discuss music that has meant the most to them in their lives, with Orchestra of St John's playing arrangements of their choice of music live in the concert hall.

Joanna Lumley, actress, is interviewed by Paul Blezard about her life and musical influences.

Born in India and brought up in the Far East, she was educated at a convent in Sussex where she played men’s parts in school plays. During the sixties she became a photographic model for three years, and somehow managed to start acting in films despite never having attended a drama school.

Soon she was appearing on television and shortly afterwards on stage in the West End. Her long career has given her the chance to work with Harold Pinter, Alan Ayckbourn, Jonathan Miller and Martin Scorsese: to film with Peter O’Toole, Christopher Lee, Ava Gardner and Leonardo DiCaprio; to be Patsy in Absolutely Fabulous for 25 years and to travel the world filming documentaries, the latest of which, Joanna Lumley’s Silk Road Adventure starts on September 11th. She is married to the conductor Stephen Barlow, and her son and his daughters fill her happy cup to the brim.
