The brass players of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra are known for their punchy orchestral playing and this concert is a chance to hear them perform some dazzling brass repertoire. This lively programme includes Bernstein’s riotous Dance Suite, Fats Waller’s swinging Ain’t Misbehavin’ and Duke Ellington’s soothing Come Sunday, as well as Gershwin’s infectious Can’t take that away from me, arranged for brass quintet, which contrasts peaceful lullabies with bouncy, spirited movements. With catchy melodies and shimmering tones, this concert is sure to be a toe-tapping delight.
