Stockport Symphony Orchestra brings you a concert of music chosen to reflect no less than three centenaries this evening. A time for reflection as well as for enjoying some iconic pieces. In the programme are excerpts from The Planets, John Williams’s moving ‘Schindler’s List' and at its emotional and dramatic centre, Elgar’s cello concerto performed by one of the country’s outstanding young cellists, BBC Young Musician of the Year strings winner, Maxim Calver.
