Dante String Quartet - Concert 3 of 3

For the final concert of their series the Dante string quartet play music by Haydn, Schumann and Beethoven. The Haydn quartet is a mature work, showing the composer fully at ease in the quartet form, and it is noted for its very beautiful slow movement. Schumann’s poetic and romantic imagination is evident in his F major quartet, a fine work from a composer more generally appreciated for his piano music and his songs. Beethoven’s third Razumovsky quartet is a powerful work embracing a variety of moods – playful, elegiac, relaxed and energetic – and it provides a fitting conclusion to these three concerts.
