  1. Così fan tutte K 588 - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Cosi fan tutte is Mozart's final collaboration with librettist Lorenzo da Ponte, first performed in 1790, just a year before Mozart's untimely death. Written in two acts, it is the joyously tongue in cheek tale of Ferrando and Guglielmo, and the lengths to which they go to test the fidelity of their young lovers, the sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella. With the encouragement and scheming of Despina and Don Alfonso, a plot involving disguise and seduction is put into action, and a wager proposed with the aim of proving the infidelity of all women. Cosi fan tutte is full of exquisite music, from the opening chords and fragile oboe that immediately surprise in the overture, to the chastened and contrite promises of faithful love that conclude Act 2. The arias and ensembes seem to capture something deeply human, a sincerity and idealism that is far more moving than this frivolous tale might at first suggest.

Conductor Matthew Scott Rogers is already making a name for himself as a Jette Parker Young Artist at the Royal Opera House and our young cast of outstanding soloists are poised at the start of their careers. Come and hear this young and talented cast accompanied by Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra in a concert performance at the beautiful church of St Peter's, Notting Hill.
