Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite is a delight and Rachmaninov's romantic Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini for piano and orchestra is one of the most captivating of all his works. Piano soloist Alim Beisembayev 'is impressive and clearly worth watching’ Wall Street Journal.

After the interval, Mussorgsky's Night on a bare mountain, and Stravinsky's dazzling Firebird Suite bring the evening to an exciting close.
