Tees Valley Youth Orchestra is the full size youth orchestra for the whole of the North-East, run by Tees Valley Music Service. This year they celebrate their 50th anniversar, starting with this concert. We are delighted to be performing at St Nicholas Cathedral for the first time. Our exhilarating all Russian programme starts with the magnificent fanfare from Romany-Korsakov’s opera Mlada, his arragement and wonderfully orchestrated version of Night on bare mountain follows. Borodin’s beautiful and haunting work In the Steppes of Central Asia closes our first half, whilst Ravel’s glittering orchestration of Pictures at an exhibition is our show stopper. A night not to be missed.
