‘Rolf Hind’s career has blossomed over 25 years in a multitude of directions – establishing him as major force as a composer, solo pianist, recording artist, chamber musician, pedagogue, collaborator and concert planner’ Gramophone

The Octandre Ensemble presents the first of its ‘Way out East’ series of composer portrait concerts in the intimate setting of The Coronet, Notting Hill, focussing on chamber music by Rolf Hind. Hind's music engages with the East, and above all India, with oblique and surprising approaches to its language, philosophy and culture, from the tender and meditative to the violent and comic. The Octandre Ensemble brings together an international array of talent to perform a portrait concert, with interviews from the composer to explain the stories behind the music. The evening culminates in the first ever full performance of Way out East, featuring the mezzo-soprano Lore Lixenberg, saxophonist Stefan Baur, George Barton on percussion and Siwan Rhys on piano.
