You will be delighted to hear that Sophia Lisovskaya will be returning to give another breath-taking recital, bringing with her the violinist Sergey Levitin. He is Co-Concert Master for the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

Sophia Lisovskaya was born in Moscow into a family of professional musicians. Having shown early promise she gave her first public performance at the age of six in Moscow’s Museum of Fine Art, one of Sviatoslav Richter’s favourite venues, and has since continued to follow the grand tradition of the old Russian School with a lineage of professors leading directly back to the great figures of Neuhaus, Sofronitsky and Scriabin.

Born in Russia, Sergey Levitin studied in St.Petersburg and Vienna where his teachers were Aaron Knaifel, Mark Komissarov, Mikhail Gantwarg and Igor Ozim. In 1996 he was appointed Concert Master of the Mariinsky Theatre (Kirov) Orchestra conducted by Valery Gergiev. With that orchestra, Levitin toured worldwide and took part in many recording projects for Philips Classics and Decca including Shostakovich’s symphonies and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade.
