“Music is the sound of life” Carl Nielsen
Swedish pianist, Martin Sturfält is hitting the all right keys this October as part of the Absolute Classics 2018/19 series. Martin will perform four concerts from the 18-21 of this month in venues across the region.
From the age of 11, Martin has been performing extensively throughout Europe with major highlights including recitals at prestigious venues in Stockholm and the rest of Sweden, as well as at London’s Purcell Room, Barbican Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall.
Winner of the Malmö Nordic ‘Blüthner’ Piano Competition and the John Ogdon Prize, Martin is in high demand. Alongside his performances of classical repertoire ranging from baroque through to the present day, Martin increasingly indulges his passion for the music of his native country, Sweden, which is earning him international recognition of his work.
This month audiences are invited to hear two different programmes from this great musician. Two of Martin’s concert programmes are formed from the well known, Four Impromptus by Schubert and Chopin’s four Ballads, while the other two aim to give the listener a flavour of Scandinavia with music by native composers Sjögren and Nielsen.
