From the far shores of Madagascar to the folk songs of Wales, paired together are the works of Beethoven and Haydn with the lush sound world of Ravel and Welsh composer Hilary Tann’s images of bird flight. Featuring the London premiere of In the Theatre of Air, title track from the Marsyas Trio’s new album (NMC Recordings) which made No 7 in the Classical Charts in its debut week. This programme presents music inspired by distant countries; commissioned to write works reflecting countries they had never visited, Haydn, Beethoven and Ravel aptly captured the spirit of those faraway lands in these rarely heard vocal works, whilst Hilary Tann’s music remains spiritually and deeply connected to her native Wales.
