The Cinema Organ Society presents international sensation Walt Strony in concert on Saturday 5th January 2019 at 3:30pm (doors open 3pm)
The Troxy Wurlitzer has been thrilling audiences with the music and sounds of the Wurlitzer ‘one man orchestra’ since 2015. The organ has over 1700 pipes that are designed to imitate a wide range of orchestral instruments. Special effects include drums, cymbals, xylophone, glockenspiel, marimba and piano, all of which are the real thing!
Preserved by the Cinema Organ Society, the Wurlitzer is featured in regular concerts, and at other events, and is capable of performing music from Bach to Beatles.
Walt Strony is one of America’s premier concert organists. He made his public debut in 1974 at the age of 18 and has since established himself as one of few organists equally at home playing both theatre and classical organ. Strony has performed hundreds of concerts from coast to coast in the United States as well as in Japan, Australia, England, and Canada. In addition, he has performed at many conventions of the American Theatre Organ Society and the American Guild of Organists.
Come along and hear a variety of light music performed on Europe’s finest Wurlitzer theatre organ, in the unique atmosphere an original 1930s Art Deco theatre.
