Inspired by the Foundling Hospital’s stories of women and children, soprano Maggie Cooper and pianist Laetitia Fédérici explore songs of motherhood and childhood from around the globe. The chosen songs beautifully illustrate the force of motherly love, as well as the resilience and humour of children. Enjoy Bernstein’s I hate music and Poulenc’s wittily surreal La courte paille along with works by Schumann and Britten plus lullabies from Spain and Russia.

Laetitia Fédérici studied in France and at the Conservatoire of Cergy-Pontoise. After obtaining a Postgraduate Diploma at Trinity College of Music, she obtained a Master’s Degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and in 2002 was awarded the Gerald Moore Award. She enjoys a varied career as an accompanist.

Lyric soprano Maggie Cooper is a scholarship graduate of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama who regularly performs solo recitals in the UK and abroad. In London she has performed at many prestigious venues including St Paul’s Cathedral, St John’s Smith Square and King’s Place.

The Foundling Museum's classical concerts feature a wide range of performers and repertoire, inspired by the story of the Foundling Hospital and some of its most famous supporters - above all, Handel.
