The Farrant Singers next concert is an evening of French (and French Swiss) music. The programme is Faure's much-loved Requiem in D minor, Op 48, Poulenc's Quatre motets pour un temps de pénitence (Lenten motets) and the French Swiss composer Frank Martin's Mass for double choir. Martin wrote this wonderfully reflective mass in 1922 but did not allow it's performance until 1963. He wrote 'I considered it to be a matter between God and myself. I felt that a personal expression of religious belief should remain secret and hidden from public opinion.‘
