  1. String Quartet No 15 in G D 887 - Franz Schubert
  2. String Quartet No 14 in C sharp minor Op 131 - Ludwig van Beethoven

Quartets from the two composers' late period, Schubert's G major quartet D 887, considered by some to be his greatest quartet, and Beethoven's Op 131 in C sharp minor. After hearing the Beethoven, Schubert remarked 'what is there left to write?'. Schumann regarded this and the opus 127 as standing 'on the extreme boundary of all that has hitherto been attained by human art and imagination.' A wonderful opportunity to hear these two masterpieces in the same concert.
