The programme for the Newcastle Bach Choir’s summer concert 2019 focuses on Bruckner's music for Posaunen (trombones) and voices and its origins and influences. Built around his Requiem in D minor, a work that the composer regarded as his first mature large-scale choral work, the programme includes some familiar motets such as the fine Ecce sacerdos, along with music that influenced Bruckner in its use of voices and instruments by Michael Haydn, Beethoven and Schütz. The Newcastle Bach Choir is joined by a quartet of period trombones, strings and organ.
