Winners of the RCM Woodwind Ensemble Competition 2019, Prince Consort Winds is a London-based wind quintet made up of musicians from the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music. Established in September 2016, the quintet are regularly coached by Gareth Hulse, and have also received tuition from Olivier Stankiewicz and Sarah Burnett. In summer 2017 Prince Consort Winds were selected to perform in a chamber music masterclass to Sir James Galway at the Royal College of Music.

The quintet enjoys performing regularly at the Royal College of Music and across London, including numerous concerts at St Bartholomew the Great in West Smithfield and St Mary Abbots Church in Kensington. In June 2018, Prince Consort Winds were invited to take part in a short residency in Suffolk, performing and leading workshops at various schools around the area. The quintet also made their debut performance at Conway Hall in October 2018, performing with fellow RCM pianist Bradley Wood. Prince Consort Winds are looking forward to a busy summer, with performances at Regents Hall and at the St Stephen’s Church, Gloucester Road.

Prince Consort Winds takes its name from Prince Consort Road, the street in Kensington famously named after Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria, on which both the Royal College of Music and the Royal Albert Hall lie.
