Rachmaninov's 'All-Night Vigil' - or 'Vespers', as it has become affectionately known—lies at the heart of the musical traditions of the Russian Orthodox Church. When compared with the virtuosity of his piano concertos, or the lyricism of his symphonies, Rachmaninov's 'Vespers' are something of a more personal and introspective reflection, deeply imbued with traditional chants and a strong essence of Russophilia like no other.

The Strand Consort, under the direction of Joseph Fort, looks forward to performing this hauntingly beautiful work by alongside contemporary works by Owain Park, one of the UK's leading young composers.

Join us on 11th May at a candlelit St Mary le Strand at 7:30pm
