Beethoven's Ninth Symphony with its choral finale is renowned as an affirmation of the ideals of freedom, hope and universal brotherhood. The concert opens with Janácek's celebratory Sinfonietta. The sound and spectacle of its fanfares for 14 trumpets is awe-inspiring.
