Join us as we explore chaconnes from the sixteenth century through to the present day.

O/Modernt’s second album, From the Ground Up: The Chaconne, is a sweeping historical journey of the ‘chacona’ from its sexy origins in South America, through its sublimation in the art of Purcell and Bach, to its funky merging with Shakespeare and beat poetry.

Christopher Wren’s majestic interior combined with Henry Moore’s iconic altar provides the un/modern setting for a concert celebration of the album. Recitations of Shakespeare by Sam West and improvisations will be interwoven between the compositions.

In a pre-concert talk, Hugo Ticciati and fellow performers reflect on themes explored in the album liner notes.

There will be a post-concert reception with all the artists and the ticket price includes one glass of wine or soft drink each. All tickets are unreserved seating.
