Stéphane Degout is today’s leading French baritone, equally acclaimed for his interpretations of the French Mélodie and the German Lied. He is joined by the pianist Cédric Tiberghien, whose latest disc of Liszt piano works was described as ‘breathtaking’ (BBC Music Magazine) and ‘exemplary’ (The Guardian). They present a programme that includes Fauré’s exquisite song cycle La bonne chanson, the Heine songs from Schubert’s Schwanengesang, and songs by Wolf, Lili Boulanger and Debussy.
