  1. Overture, from Prince Igor - Alexander Borodin
  2. Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Op 35 - Pyotr Tchaikovsky
  3. Symphony No 1 in C minor Op 68 - Johannes Brahms

Opening with Borodin’s Overture from his opera Prince Igor, this piece provides the backdrop of a heroic bygone era in a work deeply infused with Russian folk traditions.

By popular demand, internationally renowned violinist Esther Yoo returns to Hull City Hall to play Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with fire and ferocity, leading the orchestra in one of the most enduring concertos of the violin repertoire.

The concert finishes with Brahms’s monumental First Symphony, which took the composer nearly fifteen years to write, and this is evident in the pure musical intensity throughout the work.
