This year, our annual Bach Festival coincides with the 50th anniversary celebrations of our concert society, Music-at-Hill (formerly St Anne's Music Society).
Friday 26 July is being marked as a special Golden Jubilee Day, climaxing with this concerto finale performed by members of the City Bach Collective. Their mouth-watering programme includes Bach's popular Air on a G string, plus individual concertos for harpsichord and violin and his double concerto for oboe and violin.
Our guest of honour will be Simon Lindley, former Leeds City Organist and Organist of Leeds Minster, whose organ recital series at St Anne and Agnes, Gresham Street, gave birth to the Society back in 1969.
A small exhibition of material from the Society's archives will be on display.
Teatime refreshments served from 5.30 pm. After the performance, circa 7pm, all concert-goers are welcome to stay on for our Golden Jubilee reception and enjoy a glass of wine together.
There is no admission charge for this concert, but we invite your generous contributions to the retiring collection.
