It is fitting that the Leonore Trio has saved the crowning masterpiece of Beethoven’s works for piano trio as the finale to this wonderful series. A noble and spacious work, celebrated for being almost a symphony for three musicians, the Archduke Trio overcame an inauspicious debut before going on to become one of the best-loved pieces of music for piano, violin and cello.
