This concert has been cancelled owing to the closure of Dorking Halls durinng the Covid 19 lockdown

The cellist Jamal Aliyev was born in Azerbaijan and studied in Britain at the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Royal College of Music. He now enjoys a successful career, performing widely in the UK and Europe.

In 2017 he appeared at the BBC Proms and at the Royal Festival Hall, and also recorded a CD of Russian cello music.

The programme includes a set of variations by Beethoven and an arrangement of Franck’s great violin sonata, together with music by Massenet, Tchaikovsky, Lutoslawski, and the Bohemian cellist and composer David Popper.
