  2. Sonata for violin and piano in A FWV 8 - César Franck

This lunchtime concert features two of the most glorious works for violin and piano of the later romantic period. Polish composer Karol Szymanowski’s Myths portrays characters from Greek legends in sensuous harmonies, while César Franck’s majestic Sonata was written as a wedding present for the great Belgian virtuoso violinist Eugène Ysaÿe.
