  1. String Quartet No 2 - Sir Michael Tippett
  2. String Quartet No 16 in F Op 135 - Ludwig van Beethoven

The Heath Quartet present an enigmatic programme featuring Beethoven’s final string quartet.

One of the most charismatic ensembles on the scene, the Heath Quartet recently completed a five-concert series at Wigmore Hall and won the Gramophone Chamber Disk of the Year for their recording of Tippett’s string quartets, the second of which features in this concert.

Fragmentation and enigmatic juxtapositions replace heroic narratives in Beethoven’s final string quartet, woven through with uncanny musical references from outside of the world of chamber music.
