Pinsuti's next concert showcases some of the fabulous music included in Monteverdi's famous vespers of 1610 and his later 1641 vespers. Accompanied by a small ensemble and selected soloists, the choir will be singing a range of this joyous and challenging music.

Described as "A towering masterpiece of the early Baroque — at once intimate and grand, prayerful and dramatic, exalted and sensual. Monteverdi’s rarely performed 1610 Vespers of the Blessed Virgin offers up a dizzying array of textures and sonorities in brilliant instrumental writing, opulent choruses, and moving solo arias and duets" (Jane Glover) . The vespers of 1641 are sometimes known as the 'other vespers', and include much of his life's work.

We are delighted to be able to bring together the instrumentalists and soloists needed to perform this wonderful music and are very grateful to friends of Paul Woodhouse for supporting us to do this. Paul was a founder member of Pinsuti and this concert is dedicated to his memory.

It should be a very enjoyable evening, rounded off by the stunning triple trumpet concerto by Telemann and Rigatti's majestic 'Magnificat'.
