Schubert: Mass No 2 in G | Phoenix Choir of Crawley

Franz Schubert’s Mass in G major is one of the most popular settings of the mass ordinary: the charming song-like melodic writing, especially in the Kyrie and the Credo, forms a magical counterpoint to more concertante passages in the Gloria and the Sanctus.

German romanticism was the reactionary result of the many historical forces at the turn of the 19th century, including the French Revolution and the Industrial age. This concert features those composers who attempted to express deep emotions, ideas and love of nature through their work, namely Mendelsson( featuring 'Hear my Prayer'), Beethoven, Brahms and Rheinberger as well as Schubert.
