Ashwell Trio

Callum Smart attracted wide public attention at the age of thirteen having won the strings category of the 2010 BBC Young Musicians Competition performing Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto. In the same year, Smart then went on to become the top European prize-winner at the Menuhin Competition. Callum is joined on stage by fellow BBC Young Musician finalist, French horn player, Ben Goldscheider. Goldscheider performed as part of the 2017 Harrogate Music Festival and has since been selected for representation by Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT) for the 2019/2020 season. The Ashwell Trio is completed by pianist Richard Uttley, who is noted for the integrity and breadth of his musicianship as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist. In 2006, Uttley won the British Contemporary Piano Competition and was selected for representation by YCAT in 2011.
