The New Oxford Consort gives its debut Oxford performance with a festive concert spanning eight centuries of musical output, in the wonderful acoustic of Merton College Chapel. The programme will feature a selection of classic carols as well as lesser-known music, with works by composers including Victoria, Praetorius, Poulenc, Warlock, Howells, MacMillan and Britten.

The New Oxford Consort is a vocal ensemble comprising some of the finest young singers from Oxford and beyond.

Founded and directed by Freddie Crowley, a recent music graduate of Merton College, Oxford, the group performs repertoire from the Renaissance to the present day, and varies in size and forces according to venue and occasion.

The singers are drawn from a pool of young professionals in the early stages of their singing careers, including alumni choral scholars of Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, Royal Holloway and Manchester universities, as well as London conservatoires.

Members of the group have sung with the Tallis Scholars, The Sixteen, Tenebrae, BBC Singers, Sansara, I Fagiolini, Siglo de Oro, Genesis Sixteen, Lacock Scholars, Carice Singers, and the choirs of Merton, Queen’s, Christ Church and New Colleges, Oxford.
