Britten’s hugely popular Ceremony of Carols was composed in part while returning to Britain from the United States. Biebl's best-known work Ave Maria was brought to the United States by the Cornell University Glee Club in 1970. Fauré’s Messe Basse, composed while holidaying in Normandy, exploits graceful lyricism and subtle harmonic shifts found in his superb songs and Requiem. Plus a feast of carols for all!
