Mendelssohn's Elijah | Eltham Choral Society

Max Barley, the Director of Music at Holy Trinity, Sloane Square, as well as Eltham Choral Society, will be conducting this performance of Elijah. First performed in 1846, Mendelssohn's Elijah sets the life of the prophet to dramatic and melodic music. It tells the story, of God’s battle, via Elijah the prophet, with King Ahab, Queen Jezebel and their worship of the false god, Baal. Droughts, fires, sacrifices, tempests, earthquakes ensue until God is able to restore calm.
