Rochester Choral Society Summer 2024 Concert

Rochester Choral Society is a 151 year old community choir from the Medway towns. We are delighted to perform in this venue near the Chatham Historic Dockyards, built in 1903 and previously an HMS Pembroke Royal Navy arts and crafts-style chapel.

Bob Chilcott's Requiem was composed in 2010 and is an uplifting work of meditation and reflection. Described as radiant and consoling, it is a piece of sweet melodic invention which illuminates the settings of Latin texts from the Missa pro defunctis and the 1662 Book of Common Prayer.

John Rutter's Gift of Life: Six Canticles of Creation was composed in 2015 and is a choral celebration of the living earth and its creation. Set to a variety of sacred texts, including new words by the composer, it embraces a mystical kaleidoscope of moods culminating in the inspirational Believe in Life.
