The Visit to the Sepulchre | Newbury Chamber Choir

In these special Easter performances, Newbury Chamber Choir presents an arrangement of one of the oldest musical dramas that exist: the plainson melodies of the twelfth century Visitatio sepulchi has been arranged for contemporary choral performance. The music is simple, uplifting and meditative as it tell the story of the disappearance of Christ's body from the tomb. It has its moving and dramatic moments too, as in the famous scene where the three Marys recognize the gardener as their risen saviour.

There will be a retiring collection in aid of the church and the choir.
