Virtuoso violinist Emmanuel Bach is a graduate of the University of Oxford and the Royal College of Music, and a prize-winner in several recent competitions. He has performed as a soloist in the major violin concerti and as a chamber musician.

His programme highlights the influence of virtuoso players on the violin repertoire, and the contribution of two leading Belgian musicians. JS Bach's all-time classic works for solo violin inspired Eugène Ysaÿe to write a set of six solo sonatas using 20th century techniques. César Franck wrote his lyrical and passionate violin sonata as a wedding present for Ysaÿe. Prokofiev originally wrote his sonata for flute and arranged it for violin at the request of David Oistrakh.
